i do so hate the word 'nerd' or 'geek': i never see myself in those
stereotypes.
i DO love all things scifi [TV series, books etc] and i have been
collecting comics 'seriously' for at least 30 years and musically i do
like devo, they might be giants and jethro tull a lot.
I was looking through a stack of old FF's: The Byrne Years, the later
part of his run [basically #'s 260-295].
the printing is so MUDDY and blurred!
the paper stock is standard newspaper stock, so these comics have thAT
'MEALY' FEEL THAT OLd NEWSPRINT GETS. Of interest was 'Assistant Editors
Month and seeing some of the names of some of the 'assistants', like Bob
Harras who was later EIC!
Funnier was the Ads: esp for video games for the 'new next wave' of game
systems, the Atari 5200, Calecovision and intellivision or the great
computers the Apple 2 or Commodore VIC-20.
These Days i buy graphic novel collections online. the printing and
durability quality are so much better and no more having to put up with
those damn know it all comic book guys in the stores.
